We want to hear your story

There are a lot of misconceptions about a career in the trades, including that it’s a dead end job, it’s dangerous, or it’s dirty. We want to correct those misconceptions, and you can help us. We want to hear about how you became a tradesperson, whether you’re a plumber, a welder, a carpenter, or any other profession. Was your mother or father in a trade? Did you fall in love with woodworking in high school and then researched what you could do with those skills? Or did you come to it by accident?

We want to hear about it. When did you know you were going to be in the trades, and how did you decide on which trade? What did your career path look like?

Email us at info@trainingnetwork.ca and tell us your story!

Apprenticeship is at the core of BC trades

November 1, 2015 By Kerry Vital

This week is Apprenticeship Recognition Week in B.C., where we recognize the contribution of the trades to our province. The trades touch everyone every day, whether you’re driving on roads built by tradespeople or going to work in a concrete skyscraper.20130319-BASF_launches_new_brand_for_construction_industry-hi-res

“The importance of the skilled trades to society cannot be understated,” says Gary Herman, CEO of the Industry Training Authority. “Developing a skilled workforce is not just for today, but also for ensuring that B.C.’s economy and workforce will be protected through the next 80 years and beyond. Through growing and supporting apprenticeship, we can continue to build a skilled workforce to help ensure that British Columbians have the skills they need to be first in line for the many opportunities coming our way across the province.”
