Need Pipeline Construction Safety Training?

January 6, 2017 By Kerry Vital

Did you know that we offer courses online? Training can take place outside of the classroom and at your own pace! Best of all, some of our online courses offer HPO and Gold Seal credits!

One of our most popular online courses is the Pipeline Construction Safety Training course, especially with the recent approval of Kinder Morgan’s Trans Mountain pipeline expansion. Here’s the course outline:

This course has been designed and developed by the construction industry to address health and safety issues specific to pipeline construction in the oil and gas industry.

Construction safety is not to be taken lightly, and it is something that the pipeline construction industry takes very seriously. This course is intended to familiarize you, the worker, with how to recognize, assess and control hazards on the work site. It has been designed to complement other safety-related courses offered by the industry.

After completing this course, you will:

• Know how to recognize hazards

• Know how to assess hazards

• Know how to control hazards

• Know how to operate a vehicle safely

• Know how to operate equipment safely

• Know how to respond to emergencies

You can register for the course at any time and complete it at your own pace. Register now or check out our full course calendar.

We’re pretty excited to announce that we’ll be offering some courses in Whitehorse, Yukon, starting in November! We were pleased to bring our Supervisors Bootcamp there earlier this year, and the response was so great that we decided to take some of our other courses there as well!

On November 18, we will be offering our popular Introduction to Blueprint Reading course, which is ideal for people new to reading blueprints. The early bird registration deadline is November 4, so don’t miss out! On November 24, we’re bringing How To Be A Better Foreman to Whitehorse; this course is almost always full and the instructor, Paul Simpson from Thompson Rivers University, is one of our most-requested instructors. This course gives participants the fundamentals of field leadership, organization, crew morale, efficiency, and productivity.

Recognizing the National Day of Mourning

April 26, 2016 By Kerry Vital

DayOfMourning

On April 28, Canada will recognize the National Day of Mourning, which honours the memory of workers who have been killed, injured or become ill as a result of work-related accidents. Established in 1984 by the Canadian Labour Congress and officially named as a national day in 1991, the day is marked by ceremonies across B.C., flags flown at half mast, and the observation of moments of silence throughout the day.

Last year in B.C., 122 people were killed on the job, and workplace injury or illness resulted in almost 2.6 million lost days of work. This year, speakers at the various events will include family members of those who have passed away, and workers injured on the job. For more information about the Day of Mourning and a list of ceremonies, visit www.dayofmourning.bc.ca.
